Jamshedpur, Jharkhand: Jamshedpur Football Club has completed its squad with the stellar signing of a seasoned campaigner, midfielder CK Vineeth, for the Indian Super League first team squad.

The star midfielder from Kannur has racked up 53 goals in 203 career appearances and has 7 caps for the India national football team.

In his stellar and trophy laden career, Vineeth has proved his mettle throughout. He finished ISL runner up for Kerala and has won two I-League titles (2014, 2016) and two Federation Cups (2015, 2017) with Bengaluru FC. He was instrumental in Bengaluru FC’s AFC Cup 2016 campaign, where they ended as runners-up.

The 31-year-old is thrilled at the prospect of playing for Jamshedpur FC. “It’s an exciting opportunity for me to come to play for Jamshedpur,” the midfielder said. “I have been here twice whilst playing for Kerala Blasters in the last two seasons and the atmosphere at The Furnace was absolutely brilliant. It’s a highly challenging space and ground for any opposing team and it will be exciting to be on the other side this season. I want to put my best foot forward and contribute as much as I can for the team and bring out the finest of my game to this awesome city and club.”

The top-scoring Indian player in ISL 2016, Vineeth helped Chennaiyin FC finish runners-up in the Super Cup 2019.

Head Coach Antonio Iriondo was happy to have a player like Vineeth in the squad. “Vineeth is a proven player,” Iriondo enthused. “He has a winning mentality that reflects not just in his work ethic but also his trophy cabinet. His versatility is always a threat in front of the opponent goal, which adds tremendous value to our squad composition. I look forward to working with him.”

Born in Kannur, Kerala, Vineeth made his professional debut for Chirag Kerala in the I-League during the 2010–11 season. After impressing many in his first professional season, Vineeth was signed by Prayag United for two seasons, lifting the IFA Shield in 2013.

Vineeth will join the rest of the squad later in mid-September for pre-season in Jamshedpur.
