Durand Cup 2025: 134th Edition kicks-off today

The 134th edition of the Durand Cup, Asia’s oldest football tournament, kicks off today, July 23, 2025, serving as the grand curtain-raiser to India’s domestic football season. This year’s competition features 24 teams, including top Indian Super League (ISL) clubs, I-League sides, and teams from India’s armed forces and new entrants, segmented into six groups of four teams each. The group winners and the two best second-placed teams will qualify for the knockout stage.

Host Cities and Venues

Matches will be played across six venues in five cities:

  • Kolkata: Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan and Kishore Bharati Krirangan
  • Jamshedpur: JRD Tata Sports Complex
  • Shillong: Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium
  • Kokrajhar: SAI Stadium
  • Imphal: Khuman Lampak Main Stadium

Kolkata will host two groups and the grand finale on August 23 at Salt Lake Stadium.

With 43 matches and a prize pool of ₹3 Crore, the tournament promises action and high stakes as teams contest for one of Indian football’s most treasured trophies. Thr entire tournament will be televised live on the Sony Sports Network with live streaming on Sony Liv.
